Default whingeing pom's two min sedge cdc&elk style

WP's TMS is a great template for sedges in the 'upstream' fashion, this one utilizing a great sedge pattern the cdc&elk. Hope you like

cheers hans, I did these ones the right way this time, with the one cdc feather wound all the way up. The top right one had the better quality cdc on it, hence the better 'fluffy' hackle!

Interesting.. could you take the head much further round the bend and stick the hackle in the gape? This means you could void the hook (and probably not strike into anything!) and also give the body a non-straight shape.

I really like the heads on them. If you squint a little when you look they have a very realistic imprint

I shall try it this weekend..

Nice flies jonnied
how did you get the head so rounded - is the deer hair folded over itself before being tied down?

Thanks for sharing Wp, and for posting JD..

Curious as to how it evolved?

I'm no 'upstream' fisher so, I'm making a big assumption that these are chucked upstream, and fished, drag free as much as you can?

Out of curiosity again, as I havent analised fly life to the 'enth degree, do Natural Flies travel with the current? Or just go where they are shifted? Is this why the fly 'became'?

Carl

cheers carl. It evolved over a discussion about how naturals tend to face upstream, and as the dry fly on rivers is usually cast upstream the artificial should be facing the same way.
