Jonnied,

Nice set indeed.

Question: It looks as if you have twisted the CDC feather on the CDC&Elk. Am I correct? If so, begs the question why you have opted for twisting - I would think it would reduce the number of loose strands which I believe are a major part of the appeal of the pattern.

Hans you are very right for some reason I was under the assumption that it was twisted? I think I had seen it in and SBS somewhere? I did a number of things wrong on the one in retrospect- I used a second cdc feather for a hackle at the thorax! Thanks for pointing it out

that is a very fine example.

Thanks for the comments guys cheers rob, I hope the hook holds for the 'bows tut tut... putting my river flies on your res outfit

Fwiw, there is both a link to SBS and also a 5 minute video clip on how I tie the CDC&Elk here:

the video is great hans really helpful. Particularly found the bit about tying in the deer hair useful, I'll give that a go next try
