Default In need of a Recommendation

Hi All

I have been trawling the internet over the past week looking for a vice and to be honest, its a minefield... so many to go at..

So, i was hoping if some of the seasoned fly tiers on here could point me in the right direction? I dont was to spend the earth as I would more than likely upgrade the vice after a couple of years when i fully understand my own requirements.

Secondly, could anyone recommend a good supplier for the tools/threads etc?

Many Thanks

James - a newbie to the forum

hi james
there has been so many threads on these recently, just put the words in the search section and you will find many relevant thoughts.
Personally I think the regents style vice om ebay for about £25 is fine. It would help if your a little more specific as to what kind of fishing you do and what type of flies you expect to tie.
all the best WP

Regent Rotary has served me well for years, now finally gonna upgrade but it has done the job fine for less than thirty squid.

Re materials, loads of good suppliers e.g. Lakeland, Celtic, Flastattackproducts, Artifly, Spidersplus, etc etc etc, depends what you are after and what you wanna tie but these should cover almost everything. Sorry to anyone I missed.

Agree start at cheaper end and see how you get on! Yorkshire Game Angling have a regent rotary vice at £12 with free postage. You have to go in to the sale part of their site(top left of home page) and scroll down, if you go in to the main site it is £21.99. Other tools etc. also good value. You could build a reasonable starter pack for your type of flies for under £30, free postage helps. Used them a few times and always been excellent service. Once you get started, plenty of good offers on this forum to build a collection (and end up with too much stuff).

Giz a chance, I had to pop away for the computer for a few moments to attend to the baby bottle making duties.

Thanks for the advice Pitsfordpirate, I had only heard of two of the suppliers you mentioned, its nice to have others recommended...

Also, Thanks John for the pointer towards yorkshire game angling...
