Default Bleaching feathers

I'm toying with the idea of bleaching a feather to make the markings lighter. Any suggestions? Does domestic bleach do the trick? and at what dilution and time would be effective?
cheers.

mix Clairol Hair Lightener (Basic White), hot water, 35-40% hydrogen peroxide (see eBay), and household ammonia

Avoid normal household bleach, it'll just kill the feather. Only use hair bleaches & then be prepared to lose some feathers until you get the mixes & timings dead right. Unless you're very dedicated, it could well end up being a waste of time, money & chemicals as well as feathers.
