Default Vice decision

For years I have been using a bog standard Regent, served me well enough but am finally gonna upgrade and get something a bit special.

Have shortlisted the Snowbee Waldron and the Renzetti Presentation.

Any thoughts on these two, or others I should possibly consider?

Your experiences and findings very welcome and most appreciated.

The Pirate.

Stick with the regent mate.

And spend the extra on drink.

I would have mate but the jaws and lever mechanism are a bit worse for wear and the Missus has offered me a top shelf model if I want it, so had a play with several and liked the two i have shortlisted.

Will reply to your PM shortly, gonna have a hot bath with a large beer

Tightlines!

I am vurrntly using a Renzetti traveller cam, love it... it is a cracking little vice does everything i need...holds a huge range of hooks i have gone to 22 on it and up as far as 2/0.

My last vice was a snowbee (fly mate), and though it was a great vice i found the engineeting to be of lower quality than the renzetti

A point to consider is that Snowbee dont make vices , the Waldron vice will be built in the far east with all the other low price stuff Snowbee market.

The Renzetti is miraculously still built in the USA by a company who make fly tying vices and tools.

Same as all/most of your rods, reels fly boxes, bags, jackets, waders shirts etc etc. In fact just about everything you buy now in Made In China

Im well aware of this and in fact I dont own any fly rods, reels or vices that were made in China.Clothing and flyboxes etc yes , there is no choice.
Point I was making is that the Snowbee vice is an outsourced far eatern product and the Renzetti is built in the USA by a company who specialise in vices and tools.
The choice would be fairly easy for me.

Cheers Colin

Thanks for replies lads.

Aye Colin, aware the Snowbee kit is manufactured in the Far East, although am sure many will agree some very good stuff is produced over there these days and the Waldron does look very well designed and put together.

Does anyone know if it is named after Lawrence Waldron? Is this vice a design of his that is being mass produced under license?

Quite like those Law vice, however I need one now, not in 9 months.

I really like the Renzetti as well, the Missus has one in her shop and she had to drag me off it. Decisions, decisions!

The Pirate.
