Default Trapped Gas olive

Been messing about with this one for a few months now. Still not completely happy, but getting closer....

Stu Crofts' fantastic underwater photography of emerging olives set me thinking a while ago - the emergers' abdomens display a distinct silvery sheen as air is admitted to the shuck to aid escape. I've played about with dubbing over tinsel, tinsel butts and now stripped peacock over fine mirage.
Very much a work in progress, but maybe an idea worth developing?

That's a tmc 100bl, cranked slightly in the manner of the 'Muller'.
Thorax needs some work - too bushy in relation to abdomen.

For a work in progress, it's looking pretty good. Not sure about the name, though; 'trapped gas' is a medical condition !!

I have a few in my box without the rib - But your fly looks better so I will add a rib when I next tie a few

Nice work mate.

Nice work Matt, they look the business. Dya know, I had a similar idea earlier this year but only got as far as tying up a few bodies with posts, no thorax, hackle etc and now they're sitting gathering dust. I just couldn't decide whether they'd be better with quill or dubbing. In the end I stuck with the dubbing based parachute bobs bits type things I had already. Indecision is a bloody curse I can't get out of...or can I?
