Default Waterproofing flies

Hi all,
I'm guessing here, but I don't suppose the stuff marketed under the name Watershed, and used to treat flies as they are tied, is actually manufactured purely for this purpose.
In much the same way as Ghink is a cosmetic product first, and a floatant second, I reckon Watershed must have some other, more general, application.
I'm pretty sure it is not silicon-based, but what on earth is it? Can anybody tell me?
Cheers,
Angus

It's a waterproofing agent:
This new revolutionary formula can be applied to your fly or to your dry fly material be for the fly is tied. One drop is all that is needed for application on a fly, hackle, dubbing, leader or braided loop. Water Shed can be applied directly from bottle or onto finger tip then rubbed over fly or material. Apply at least one day prior to fishing. It will not effect color or softness. It is odorless when dry.

Cant you get one of your research scientist buddies to run a test on it?
Are you trying to find a cheap alternative?

(Whoops just realised your not Andy McBog the scientist....sorry!)
