Default What Barbless hooks do you recommend?

Dear forum Members,

I currently use Knapek hooks and love the hook point but I am disappointed by the lack of quality control and consequently the number of hooks I have to discard.

Could forum members give me some feedback regarding similar hooks and their experiences with these?

Many Thanks,

Ade

For river flies I tend to use Tiemco 103 bl. Lovely wide gape and as sharp as you can get. Only downside is that they are expensive and becoming harder to get.

First of all what type of flies are you tying?

I can then recommend some patterns for you.

Default Thanks Wcb

I tie buzzers, dries, nymphs and lures. However, I am a novice and my flies are that of an enthusiastic beginner. Not the excellent examples I see posted on this forum.

Therefore, I would welcome suggestions for all types and any feedback on 'hook up and holding qualities'.

Many Thanks,

Ade

This is a great post. I am about to start tying, and as I have decided to only use barbless, I find the whole issue of hook choice a bit of a minefield. I will watch this one with great interest.

I use grip for dries emergers and light nymphs/spiders, dohiku for heavier nymphs. Not really pleased with the quality of the knapek hooks myself and I've only bought the one packet and they were the czech nymph hooks. They were a bit lacking in strength and as you say quality control. I am told partridge are the doggies for these hooks, Im yet to try the SLD's but I here they are good too, similar to grip 11011BL's and TMC 103BL's.

I mainly use Skalka barbless hooks.

I normally buy them from Irish Flytying but I've found a UK source on google at Dunfly Game Fishing Tackle
