Default Few shots from new camera

I got a new camera (well it was second hand but new to me) the other day so thought I'd take a few arty farty Scratchesque shots of a bumble tied practising for the Irish flies swap. Judging by the list of names in there I need lots of practice.

Any comments greatfully received

Fred, Its a Fuji finepix S5700, so not particularly cutting edge. I think the bigger lens helps compared to a true compact.

Hobble, More Jay do you think I'm made of money, I'll have to tie 15 for the swap - that's probably a full pair of wings

Lovely Images mate....

May have an attempt at a 'Scratchesque' shot over the weekend, when the lights a bit better....

Did you use any special effects, or just get quite close to it?

Thanks For Shraring

Nice work mate. I'm just looking forward to seeing your flies in all their true glory, true colours etc... the 'arty farty' stuff is always a bonus though

Default Cheers

Thanks for all the comments gents, except Hobbles suggestion of using guinea fowl instead of jay - wash your mouth out fella

Stillwater Angler & Captain Scarlet - Yes, camera has super macro, can get the lens within 10-20mm of the fly, although the depth of field suffers that close. I don't use any special effects as such. Just take the shot and crop it down in photoshop. I'm sure the pics could be improved if I was any good with photoshop, but I only know the basics. If I try to tweak the colours it all seems to go a bit Andy Warhol.

Scratch - "I'm just looking forward to seeing your flies in all their true glory" there's a gag in there somewhere, but I'll resist the temptation.
