Default A couple of works in progress.

Here are a few new flies that I'm playing around with, the wet/pulling hopper is for the mayfly season (2 working versions), its full of olives, coppers and oranges, yet when you hold it to the light its almost a glowing yellow halo.

  • Hook: Tiemco 760 SP
  • Butt: Copper Uni Mylar
  • Tail: Fiery Orange PT
  • Rib: Small Gold Oval
  • Body: Picric Hares Mask
  • Body Hackle: Golden Glow over Cree (Gerry)
  • Legs: Doubled PT Fiery Orange
  • Front Hackles: (Working Forward) 1 Fire Orange English Partridge, 2. Fiery Orange Bronze Mallard 3. Dyed Yellow Pheasant Rump

Taking the revesed theme a little further I tried using GP crests kinda like in a Kingsmill, will give this one a go during the olives.

  • Hook: Hayabusa Black Nickel Grub Hook Size 10
  • Rib: Glo Brite no.4
  • Body: Golden Green Olive Seals Fur
  • Body Hackle: Olive Grizzle
  • Wing: GP Crest
  • Front Hackle: English Partridge
Not sure how they will work, but it'll be good fun finding out

Cracking ties Ben,look like they will work year round, but definately worth a swim on Corrib amongst other loughs during a mayfly hatch, your snatcher is very similiar bar one or two ingrediants to my best mayfly pattern on Corrib.

They are lovely Ben. Any chance of a recipe for the top one?

Super work Ben, what's the butt on the top one? And the legs? I picked up a lovely fiery PT from the show, but can't remember from whom I purchased it Coulda been Cookshill...

Really nice, I especially like the top one.

I preferred the tippet reverse bumbles (which were stunning BTW) than the topping one, a bit more contrast I suppose.

Thanks lads, I'll post the full dressings later, but in the meantime in answer to questions, the butt on top fly is the copper/peacock uni Mylar, the PT is a Fiery orange from Rod Tye, legs knotted myself.
Hooks are my favourite wet fly hook Tiemco size 12 760 SP.
