Default Chadwicks 477

A card of Chadwicks 477 on eBay has just ended @£31 per metre. Has the world gone really mad!! Or did the bidders think they were buying the whole card. So why do the "purists" really want this stuff. Because it is original?
I have just watched a video by Steve Cullen editor of Total Flyfisher mag in which he has used the magic thread. Watch it and see what you think. He is tying the Killer bug. Now I don't want to be a stickler for truth here but the original probably consisted of the hook of the time, silvery coloured fuse wire and 477. Steve uses Thickish copper wire underbody, 477 thread, a Kamasan Hook, and a dab of superglue!
I would suggest that using 3 materials that weren't in the original hardly constitutes a reproduction, or nullifies the use of the 477 completely. If you are going to use 75% of substitute materials then why not go the whole hog and sub the 477 as well.
Now I can take my tongue out of my cheek.!!

I saw that on eBay and I must say that it wasn't initially clear to me that the bid-price was "per metre". That important detail was buried in the product description at the bottom so it would not be surprising if the bidder gets a nasty shock - I saw a whole card being sold on there last year for about £45. If I'm wrong and the buyer was aware that he was paying that for a metre, then you are right and the world has gone made.

I rather think someone has bid in haste and not read the description....Or they live in south wales and had the winning euromillions ticket

Begs the question, what do you find works as a substitute?
If you have no 447 what s the closest material that anyone finds successful for the killer bug?
Cheers,
Mark

i bought some of the veniards chadwick 477, its NOT like the origional!
its a rip off!! you might aswell look round for some wool closer to it yourself,
i really dont think the fish mind wether its 477 or grannys jumper, the bottom line is, in my opinion the killer bugs representation is close to a maggot/grub more than anthing, that is very easily done! but what sir sawyer provided was a fly that was just on border line off a maggot/bug pattern (killer bug) which maggot patterns is frowned on and laughed at by most
but the killer bug cant be ignored!
tight lines

Veniards killer bug yarn is virtually indistinguishable from 477 and goes exactly the same mottled pinkish hue with the copper wire underbody after immersing in water.
It's only £1:99 for a couple of metres too!

Virtually all the people paying money for the Chadwicks are hoping to sell it on at a later date. It's an investment.

Default opinion

Strange two posts one straight after another one saying veniards is rubbish the next saying its exactly the same as the chadwicks, everyone has the right to their own view but two such answers with such a contrast in answers beggers belief.Which opinion to listen too does anyone else have a view on the veniards.
