Novice question on a novice fly

Evening all,

Just a rather simple question. Just tried tying some Hare's Ear nymphs but the wire does not seem to be sitting right, it really sticks out the back of the nymph and looks quite ****!

Method I've used, based more on logic than anything else is:-

Tied in some hare's ear and then brought thread to back of fly, tied in my wire on top of the hook, added dubbing to thread and brought back to eye of fly and finally have wrapped wire around body and tied in at eye.

Can anyone tell me if this is the correct way to tie this fly?

Matt,

1. Start at the eye as usual.
2. Run thread in touching turns down to the end of the shank, above the barb.. ish.
3. if you are tailing it, then tie in your tail (guard hairs, or hackle fibres)
4. Catch in your rib, again, at the point above the barb.
5. Now begin to apply the body dubbing, stopping at start of the thorax area (if you are going to put a thorax and cover in).
6. Rib the abdomen.
7. Tie off and cut waste rib.
