Default Shuttlecock question......

I am tying up various CDC shuttlecocks. When tying in the cdc i notice some people like to fold the cdc back over the thorax to create a cover and some dont.

What are the advantages of doing this? Is it just asthetics or is there another reason for it? Do you find one fishes better than the other or is it just a personal thing? I have done both. The ones without still have a hares ear thorax.

Cheers
Paul.

Do you think it represents a hatching buzzer or midge better?
Do you think this affects catch rates?

I'm sorry but i would ed know what it represents better i just think it gives the fly a better profile
As for catch rates the fish are the best judges of that

Default Over the back!!

Hi Paul,

I have been experimenting with exactly the same thing in mind and what I have found is, that when you tie a loop over the thorax and then the post you get more bouyancy with the fly. Not only do you get the air sticking to the CDC but you also trap a bubble of air between the thorax and cdc which keeps it afloat.

Tightlines,
Saracen
