Default Your favourite feather?

This week I started tying my 2010 supply of spiders. As you can imagine I need a few to cover losses, handouts and even purchases by clients.
I was fascinated by how a simple feather can transform a hook into a wonderful replication of an insect.
Today I am tying a supply of March Browns which calls for a brown English Partridge feather.
What a wonderful material. This feather alone oozes life to me and with out a doubt is my favourite fly tying feather. I always look forward to tying patterns that uses this feather.
Does any one agree? What is your favourite?

CDC, without it i dont know how i would go fishing.

As for feathers with magical properties i agree Brown Partridge is one (Gray on the other hand is a pile of shyte), as is Pheasant tail, Peacock hearl and er thats it. I use lots of Coq de Leon and some cock hackles but they are functional as opposed to adding some special fish catching quality.

Agree with you on the Brown Partridge Phil.... very fishy. My fave these days though is a Furnace Hen neck feather. Just love that darkest brown centre with the golden-brown halo.

Some of my favorite feathers though are 'variant' hen or cock - their 'erratic' markings and colouration give some unique and wonderful tying feathers, but alas, makes re-ordering a problem!

Has to be good quality Bronze Mallard. Bluejay comes a close second and Brown Partridge 3rd.

Dead easy question: 'Peacock' in all its formulations.

Have a 'fat wallet' and want to drull on your key board? Start here. Kate's farm is actually about a mile from me here in Ashland, Oregon.

Jungle Cock. A sea trout fly without JC is just an ornament!
