I wouldn't take the above remark to heart Johhny

Nowt wrong with the flies at all. I wouldn't necessarily be using the first one as a bob fly though. As it is, it would be a middle or tail job for my money. Nowt stopping you using it anywhere on the cast though if you select the other flies to siut... a 3 fly cast is a team... they all affect each other.

The seals fur mess is one of the best dry flies you'll ever tie.Try a black one on 18's and 16's. They work a treat on both still and running water, and have caught some great fish for me from Stocks to Icelandic rivers. So much for sh!te.

Aye,

They're a bit scruffy alright! But that's the point innit? You should get lots of lovely movement and light coming through all that roughed up seals fur giving a lot of life to the first pattern especially.

Not so impressed with the blob 'til I read Scratch's post but then I had never thought of using it as a dry! Must do a few . . . .

That's another thing I have learnt!

cheers rob and andy!

I was reading 'on fishing' by brian clarke and he mentioned something about using seals fur, I love the translucency of the stuff, especially when you hold it upto a light it just glows. My bumbles dont look all that grand when I hold them up to the light so I dispensed with the palmer just to see....

funnily enough rob Ive just done a few emerger come dries with seals fur, its great stuff! How do you tie your we dries on small hooks? do you use wax or a dubbing loop/split thread at all? I find seals fur a pain in the **** for anything under a 16!
