Default game bird feathers

Most of the feathers i use are from genetic capes.my question is ,when useing game bird feathers eg partridge, snipe, pheasant etc do you tie them in at the tips rather than the base of the feather as you would do if you were useing feathers from a genetic bird? Thank You.

Thanks Jonnied for the reply,am i right in saying that it is done this way because the base of the stem on a game bird is quite thick?
