Default Cock pheasant

I have a couple of cock pheasant sitting on the bench after today's shoot and I am wondering what feathers to harvest in addition to the tail. I was thinking some of the iridescent feathers near the head and some of the brown neck feathers. Other ideas?

Often overlooked are the aftershaft feathers - the little secondary feathers attached to the rump feathers. They make excellent gills on nymphs if tied in at the tail and then held in place by the rib.

The saddle feathers dyed different colours are used to great effect as head hackles on Tyes Reversed Bumbles.

The neck feather are needed for the haul y gwint, an excellent Welsh pattern for the top dropper.

Its a great loch (or perhaps I should say llyn) fly.

Cheers

Andy

Cheers guys and gals. I'll have to poke around the rump... I've not heard of "aftershaft feathers". What are the "church window" feathers?
