Default Sparkler Material

Can anyone help me source or identify a material that I use to tie sparklers with. I have just run out. I feel a bit of a prat asking this because another person asked the same question on here recently and I confidently (recklessly) answered that the stuff is available from all good tackle shops. I have now encountered the same problem and can't find it anywhere.

I bought the stuff from the shop at Rutland about 8 years ago. It is a tinsel type material and is supplied in a hank (rather than on a spool) with a cable tie in the middle. It comes in different colours and combinations. The one I am after is red and gold. The stuff also haswhat looks like strands of nylon mixed in with the tinsel. This makes it quite robust when wound to form a body.

I have looked on Sportfish, Lakeland and some of the other big fly tying sites with no success. I am not even sure what the stuff is called but think it might be "Sparkle Flash" or something similar.

I'd be grateful for any help with this and I apologise to the fella who I told would be able to buy it easily !!!.

Cheers,

Dovebob

Hi DB.

Have you had a look in the Trade Classifieds?

Pearly Dabbler has some Sparkler and blob tail materials listed , with good photos , there is a gold and a blood red shown.....you might be able to mix your own.

Regards

SL
