Default Copydex Yellow May

This is an experimental pattern from this season. It worked and will become a part of my dry fly box. It has an interesting ways of building a body:
Hook: Viravas 2200 BL Size 14
Tail: 2 fibres from a B&Q paint brush coloured with a yellow marker pen
Body: Copydex coloured yellow
Thorax: Pale ginger possum under fur
Wing: Enrico Puglisi International Trigger Point Fibres - Yellow May
Hackle: Honey Dun variant cock hackle
Click the image to open in full size.
Here is how I did the body
1. Take two fibres from the paint brush and mount them in an EZY clip (the ones you mount a fly on)
2. Using a needle, smear copydex on the top and the bottom. Not too much though.
Step 3. Wait 15 - 20 mins and apply another cover of copydex.
Step 4. Again waiting until it dries (it should be translucent) spear another cover of the copydex BUT this time do it slower and form a taper from the tails.
Step 5. let it dry and you have a body ready for colouring.

Very nice mate, not one for using May's in any of their guises, but looks like it'll do the trick.

I have used the Copydex method to create some 'Detatched Buzzers', used them only a handfull of times, but only landed one.

Thanks for sharing

Carl

Nice work , there is a similar method using needle and clear bathroom silicone , but this method you also spin some dubbing into the body .
I am sure you knew this already though

I use a similar pattern to this using the copydex body and had some nice fish with it, copydex is a great thing to play with I'm just in the process of creating some maggots with it!
