Painted beads question

Is there any out there that the paint does not chip off ?

FF, you need to find beads where the colour is incorporated in the manufacture. The only problem with this is that you can't get the bright colours. I just bought some beads from Pat at Fly Tek that are anodised and have quite a strong colour. I was after Red ones and while they can't be called flourescent they are certainly strongly coloured and look like they will be perfect for deep nymphs.
Pat was kind enough to send me a few sample beads and I have to say that the pink and blue are really bright and should be perfect for grayling.
The painted ones always chip eventually especially if you fish rocky rivers but I have found that if you give them a coat of Sally Hanson they last a bit longer, its just too fiddly for me to do that on my flies as I can tie a second fly in the time it takes me to coat a bead properly !

The anodized surface still wears off eventually though as with all the coatings, in stoney rivers and streams where the fly is hitting the bottom they take a lot of stick.
