Most guys use either salt or borax, which are probably cheaper & easier to get.

i tried salt but it tends to absorb moisture from the air, borax seems to have got hard to get with EU reclassification, cant find it locally- anyone know a reliable supply or any ideas?

Naptha crystals are for moth proofing, that's not what he was asking for.

not exactly something you want really ...

Paradyne crystals will kill damn near anything ( including you) and smell nasty. Note: in some states you can't buy these as they can cause liver cancer......As a note keep these away from old folks, expecting Moms and little kids.

i asked in local boots store today- no longer sell it- apparently the borates group has been subject to an EU ruling restricting sale. i've seen a few outlets on the web but at a silly price so will ask a farmer friend- its also and agri chemical.

Moths don't generally attack skins Gerry, they eat through either the hair/fur or feather attached to the skin. As he was asking for an agent to preserve the skin(s), I should have thought that a moth-proofing agent wouldn't do what he was asking for.
