What hook is that? The proportions seem rather "stubby" and the bead large for such a short body.

"Stubby" is good, they get where they have supposed to fast which makes all the difference.

The hook is a B170 size 16, the bead is 2.4mm or 3/32" which is the correct size for a 16/18 hook.

As Buzz said' small weighted nymphs are exactly whats needed to get down to the fish fast, they are short bodied but i wouldnt say they are stubby.
