Default Barbless Hooks

With my first season coming to an end I'm thinking ahead to a long winters fly tying in the warm and dry. I'd like to start tying on barbless hooks but am unsure what to get that would be equivalent to the barbed hooks I currently use.

Can anyone suggest a barbless alternative to the following kamasan hook patterns:

B175 (S 8-12)
B800 (S 8-12)
B100 (S8-12)

Any info on who can supply them at the best price would also be very useful.

Many Thanks
Tom

You could use a Varivas 2200BL instead of the B100. The others might be more of a struggle (especially the B800), can't you just crush the barb down?

Thanks for the pointer on the B100s. I would prefer to source barbless hooks but if there are no suitable barbless hooks available I will continue to just crush the barbs down.

Cheers
Tom

how the hell does a 2200bl compare to a B100? there not really anything alike, besides being curved and having an eye???

have a look at the lathkill range of hooks;

http://www.lathkill.com/shop/index.php?categoryID=446

and the knapek hooks;

http://www.celticflycraft.co.uk/acatalog/Knapec.html

they should cover most kamasan patterns.

Tom,

Take a look at the Dohiku range:

http://www.flytyingboutique.com/Stor...sp?category=11

The HDN 302 is close to a Kam B175, the HDS is similar the the Kam B800.

For an equivalent shape to the Kam B100, the Dohiku 644 is similar but with a straighter shank behind the eye.

Closer still would be the Skalka Barbless G from Jam Siman: http://shop.siman.cz/

Or possibly the Hanak H300BL: http://www.hanakproducts.co.uk/hooks.html

Kind regards

Default barbless

Hello,
For Kamasan barbless hooks you could use:
for B100(10-6) I use B911 (10-20) ( very close to Dohiku 644)
for B175, I use B981 (2-20)
Both are excellent hooks with very good holding power.
They are readily available.

Wow, thanks for all the suggestions. I'll have a look at them all when I have time to muse over it properly and decide what to go for.

Cheers
