Default Cock Pheasant Wings

With the start of the shooting season under way the birds have started to arrive,

I was wondering if cock pheasant wings were any use???

There seems to be more flies tied with the hen pheasant like the 'green peter' and the 'whin bush' to name a very very few,

I cannot think of a single fly which incoroprates the Cock pheasant wing.

Any ideas??????

I think some of the Body / Rump feathers make great front hackles on Bumbles and dabblers.

Some of the feathers on the skin have amazing colour properties, well worth getting a full skin and have fun experimenting.

Your right there it was Rod Tye first opened my eyes to the cock saddle feathers dyed different colours,

I know you can't breed melanistics but I paired one with well marked ring necks the result is a bird that has a green/yellow saddle feather and a yellow olive rump. Another pairing turned up a totaly white pheasant.

Hugely underated bird, just can't find use for the wings

Here you go Peter...

Tied with the mottled leading edge of the secondary. So far that's my experiment with cock pheasant but I'm sure there's room for experiment for sedgy wings with either CP or GP wings.
