Default Small Dark Olive/Pale Watery Dun

Howdy vice potatoes. I had a great day yesterday on the Test - I'll have to save throughout the winter to be able to afford another. During the morning there was a heavy hatch that I simply couldn't match. Where is a butterfly net and a copy of Waterside Guide when you need it? As best as I can tell from the pictures, the hatch was of either Small Dark Olives (B. Scambus) or Pale Wateries (B.Fuscatus). The rather mashed one I managed to look at closely was generally a fawn colour with hints of green in the abdomen, with fawn/grey wings.

The trout ignored everything dry that I tossed at them (except for a rusty spinner - once). The Tups Indispensable was tried once I got a closer look at the natural and it received a good look but then a very sharp rejection. (Earlier, Greenwell's Glory were completely ignored as was the Lunn's Particular.) All were size 16.

So my questions are: 1. is it plausible that the hatch was one of the two above? and 2. what's your favourite imitations?

Lastly I am also puzzled by the rationale for the pink in the Tups Indispensable.

Cheers

Steve
