Para7,

Good on you for considering the best vice available!

Give Lawrence a call Monday to Friday and be prepared to wait about 9 months for delivery - they are very sought after vices! - well worth the wait.

Kind regards

I've never heard a bad thing said about the LAW, but why on earth would it take 9 months to get one, that's just ridiculous especially when you could get a similar spec one from a competitor next day delivery.

weight forward,

LAW vices are literally hand built by Lawrence Waldron in his spare time.

Earlier this year, Lawrence decided to take more time off to go fishing although he has been flooded with orders in 2009, hence the estimated nine month waiting list.

It is difficult to find another vice that performs like a LAW bench vice - in fact I personally don't think that there is another vice quite like it.

Ridiculous that there is a 9 month waiting list? It is a product that is very much in demand. Ridiculous that people are willing to wait? I don't think so!

There are waiting lists of over a year for some premium cars and yet people will wait that long...

Why not wait for what some people think is THE ultimate fly tying vice?

Kind regards

Nice way to run things , plenty of orders , ****** it im away fishing . Im with WF on this one its the adult syndrome of look mines better and dearer than yours . At the end of the day its a hook holder ,There are perfectly good vices that do the same things at a fraction of the price. And you can get them next day ..

I don't think that anyone would disagree that the LAW vice is just a hook holder as is any other vice.

It is just that some people are willing to pay over £400 for a genuinely hand made vice and are willing to wait for it.

You could argue that a car is just a metal box with four wheels at each corner and that there is no real difference between a Ford Fiesta and a Bentley Continental - except you can pick up a Ford Fiesta tomorrow morning but will have to wait 12 months to collect the Bentley if you ordered it tomorrow.

Each to his/her own ...

Kind regards

Which of course is why there are far more Fiestas on the road than Bentleys.

Your analogy is somewhat flawed siderplus..........I, like several others, can afford a Fiesta but a Bentley is out of my league. However, due to the fact that I can afford a Fiesta you'll appreciate that a Law vice is peanuts in comparison........£400 is easily affordable. BUT, would I spend that much on a hook holder?........not a chance!!

I still use and renew the AA vice.........are my flies inferior to those tyed by a Law disciple in their appearance? Furthermore, do flies tyed on a 'Law' catch more fish than those produced at my lowly hook holder?.......I'm willing to publicly compare my flies to any Law user.

Now then, back to the Fiesta / Bentley scenario............if I could afford both which would I go for?......it's a thorough no brainer
