thick question

Ok i have been trying to tie buzzers and everyone i end up ripping back down and giving up lol.
The only ones i can seem to tie are the gold head buzzers. but i am wanting to do some without gold heads and use goose biots. and my question is how do i use them.....

do i remove all the feather bits and use the main centre section or do i cut off the feather bits and use them ?.
forgot to say that i did use the search section but could not find anything.
