Default DIY Hackle Guard

Sat at work mulling going for a cigarette and had a little bit of inspiration.

The metal cap at the top of a disposable lighter looks to me like a perfectly suitable hackle guard - a small hole with a gap for the thread to pass through, also the opening can be made wider by levering it apart slightly for larger flies/hackles.

Was considering buying a hackle guard and think I might just have saved myself a few quid!

Silent along the mazy margin stray,
And with fur-wrought fly delude the prey

You shouldn't need to use one but if you do then cut one end off a plastic cotton bud
