Default first flees

Thought i would stick up some pics of my first ever flees i tied.

i have tied a few of each but only done 1 red cheeked cormorant at the moment.

my diawl bach improved with the others that i tied but no doubt can be improved the more i tie of course.
all heads need improved on as well as tidying them all up.
But joining the local fly tying club will help ( its actually the 50+ but what the hey lol i know a few of the lads that go and run it )

the spiders hackle is a bit long on this one but the others i done are a bit better.

the head is obviously far to large which i will sort on the others.

For your first few efforts they are very good
Obviously room for improvement but for a starting point the are great and iam sure they will take fish.
The lures are probably the best tied and iam sure will take some fish over the winter months for you.
Iam sure the tying club will make a great difference to your flies and a wise move

As Bigtroot mentioned, cracking first efforts!!!

And just as important, you are recognising the areas that require attention. The Lures will definitely take fish all year round.

Keep going, and keep sharing!

Carl

Very good work mate Nice stuff

Only thing I can see wrong is your sense of proportion and the heads are usually too 'long' . No major problems there though

Easily remedied and no biggie in the grand scheme of things. They'll catch fish
Just make your body finish closer to the eye. As for hackles, they can be wound 2mm or even closer from the eye and still finished off neatly. Especially wets. the closer the better

Keep it up dude

Nice efforts James
keep it up.
watch your heads on them though, dont over do it.
Less is best.Your eyes will soon get used to the proportion sizes of flies and how the end result should be ,its all practce and first efforts are alot better than mine a couple of years ago.
Well done for sharing

will be doing some more of the LL spiders this evening and going to try and get them a lot neater also closer to the eye so the heads are not sausages lol. Kevin i am sure you have been tying flies a lot longer than 2 years lol.
