Default Suspender Buzzer

This little baby has been one of my best fish takers this summer. Before anyone says it, I haven't forgotten the parachute hackle, the 'wing post' helps the fly 'cock' and hang under the foam, without the wrapping at the base of the post it can lie flat on the surface. Also the foam is quite big because I tend to fish it on the point of a washing line setup with a Diawl or similar on the dropper.

Comments, greatfully received, Steve

Very nice i tie alot of my buzzers with the ridge but whats the under body on that one .I take it you leave the foam larger so its more easier seen

The recipe is;

Underbody: Anti-static bag
Rib: Black spanflex + Red tying thread
Thorax: Dubbing loop of peacock herl and fire orange dubbing

Yes the foam is long to make it easier to see, and to help hold up the other flies when used like (dare I say it) a bung .

Do not know much about suspender buzzers,could you use orange foam instead of the black as this would be a bit easier to see for me anyway? no fun in getting old!

No problem using orange. I tend to use black because I find it stands out better especially if its flat calm. Orange is better when the light starts to go.

I like it a lot WF. I use booby cord for seals fur sugar cube type things and can't say I've had any problems with them cocking properly but I like the extended stem idea to cock the fly and let it sit just a bit further below the film. Any adverse effect on tangles if you're fishing a team?

Midlander, I can't say I've noticed an inrease in tangles over the norm, I tend to fish them on the point washing line style with a 'nymph' on a dropper.

What would we have done before booby cord, probably have had to resort to making emergers using deer hair or something ridiculous like that

Cheers

Steve

good looking fly - love the 'angle' that the foam is tied at.
