Default Reassigned dabbler

I know how much you guys like your dabblers (dabbler swap an aal). I was having a go at tying some up with more 'up to date' materials (like, since the 1970s ). I did one for our Watten fly swap, but it never had much of a chance, given that pulling wets during the day (for me, at least) was like fishing with no flies on.

I liked the look of it, although I suspected that Jimmy thought it looked like a heap o' sh1te. Yesterday, I was lucky enough to get invited for a day on Loch Lomond. Last few times it has been all about having a Kate McLaren muddler on the bob. Anything you could get a take to further down the cast has been a bonus. So... I was chuffed when, after picking out my Watten reject to be given a swim on the point, it took 2 sea trout.

Dressing:
Hook: B175 size 10
Tail: golden pheasant crest, dyed hot red (from Gerry)
Body: mix of black seal, rainbow black Blaze, gold Lite Brite
Rib: oval gold
Body hackle: palmered fiery brown cock
Throat: few strands of black/gold 'Definite Advantage'
Over-hackle: yellow-dyed silver mallard flank

I hereby stick its head above the parapet!

Col

Looks good Col, lovely colour combination and looks as though it would have plenty of movement. Also nice sharp pic.
Thanks for sharing.
Cheers

Two-apiece . Correction - Colin McC's late fish was on the muddler, so it was 3 - 2 to the Kate muddler. However, one was 'in the jaiket' so maybe a draw is the best call? Davy had 2 on a claret bumble as well.

Twas a motley collection indeed for our fly swap Col. I don't think any of them looked or felt right for the three days we were there... I think I only tried one.. and that was mine ...... that didn't set Watten on fire either There was some great looking flies there though.. for another day - glad yours has had its moment
I've got three days fishing coming up in the next week, maybe, just maybe I'll give your 'heap o' sh1te' an airing... I promise I won't tell Millar. Where is he anyway? Oh, forgot, in Cyprus tanning his little legs and sipping cocktails with umbrellas in like a girl
