I thing you have got most of it covered, the only thing i would check on before you buy the tool kit is that the bobbin holder is ceramic lined this stops the thread from catching on the metal of the bobbin holder and snapping your thread, and you really want to get a really good pair of scissors, about a tenner should do it.

The black hole that your spare time will go into.

Enjoy

Bit more concerned about the black hole in my finances!

Cheers horses, I've seen a ceramic bobbin holder and quality scissors in sportfish

Hi Steve,

You might want some of those curved shrimp/buzzer hooks for your Klinks and to add a bit of variety to the shapes of your nymphs? Kamasan B100 sort thing! You might want to get a few 8s as well to get started on and then drop your sizes? And then the list goes on . . . but it saves you so much money, don't you know .

And as codenamemilo points out . . . be ready to be addicted! I am actually looking forward to the bad weather in winter now so I can stay in and tie the hours away. And she's away for 4.5 months too!!

Bliss . . . enjoy yourself!

Andy

I doubt the tool kit has a ceramic bobbin (the Tiemco ones are nice) and I also doubt the hair stacker has any weight (again the Tiemco ones are nice and readily available).

PS: Sportfish is not the cheapest of places....in fact far from it

PPS don't just buy a bunch of peacock herl - buy peacock eyes. For the GRHE you will need "small" (as in Ultrawire in small) wire. Lastly, different threads are better suited to some of your flies than others. Some threads are bonded (Uni) and other lie flat better (Ultrathread). For Klinks you'll need a much finer thread than for a GRHE. Grab some Sheer from Flytyingboutique. Oh and you need Elk for the CDC and Elk not deer hair. Try to get some good yearling elk hair. (Bull, cow and yearling elk are all slightly different in colour and properties.)

One of these is handy for tying Klinkhamers and parachute flies:

Also, get some micro tip scissors for cutting materials very close to the shank/hook eye. (Also you'll need some cheap utility scissors for cutting wire from the spool - just helicopter excess off the hook once tied in)

No, it's deer you need for the CDC & Elk. See Hans' post here from earlier in the year.
