Mink or Rabbit

Just while there is a current thread about minkies, When would you use mink strips as appossed to rabbit strips and vice versa. Am I right in thinking that rabbit strips tend to be cut thicker for larger flies and mink makes a better trout fly. Subject here that I am really unsure of.
