Default problems with thread splitting

hello all,,,hoping some one can help me out here as im having a problem with my threads splitting all the time,,,,,dont know the cause but i was thinking it is maybee the bobbin holder being to tight or to small,,,,hopefully someone has an answer as im new to tying but when i go to varnish my flies i have split threads everywhere therefor affecting the finished fly,,,,,cheers to all

It is hard to tell, but maybe you have a tiny spur/burr or rough edge on your bobbin holder, that is damaging the thread. I would change it out, just to eliminate it.

I had this problem when i first started, Gander is dead on, cheap bobbin hpolder that was nicking the thread... i tried several eventually i bit the bullet and shelled out about 12 quid and bought a full ceramic tubed affair... and very nice it is too
