Default Pike flies and materials - advice for beginner

Hi all

Want to tie up a few Pike flies for some winter sport, but am a bit bewildered by the materials, Have not been tying along and have til now just been tying dries/wets for trout etc, so have plenty of fur and feathers but nothing sparkly!

Can anyone suggest as short a list as possible of materials that will allow me to tie up a couple of effective Pike patterns please? SBS would be very useful too, nothing too complicated please

Thanks

Ian

Try pike bunnies.
Very easy.
Hook- 1/0-6/0.
Tail-Magnum zonker strip. With or with out krystal flash.
Body-Same as tail palmered up the body.
Eyes-Optional.
You can use a different colour at the head.

Thumbs up

Get yourself some different coloured bucktails and some flashabou to start with. This will enable you to tie up some simple streamers, sparklers and deceivers which are very effective for Pike. Once you get into the swing of things you can get some EP fibres and try some baitfish patterns which are great fun to tie.
