Default Sportfish having a laugh?

I just noticed that Sportfish are trying to sell Hebert Miner Dry Fly Capes for a whopping £49.99

http://www.sportfish.co.uk/product/h...ner-whole-neck

Do you think they're having a laugh? (And they can't spell the brand)

Considering Lakeland sell pro grade Hebert Miner capes for £25 and one can readily buy Whiting Dry Fly Bronze capes for less than £49.99, I think Sportfish have lost the plot.

Ickypimp, not having seen any of the batch of capes you mentioned I'm not really in a position to comment on them, however Chevron capes are produced virtually single-handed by a lady. They are produced on a very small scale in comparison to any of the U.S. suppliers who have a lot lower overheads & their feed costs are lower. The U.S. suppliers have a much larger gene pool to draw from as well.

So rather than knock our ONLY British supplier by using a series of asterisks, just think how you would feel in that situation when someone goes behind your back & says things like that about you or your produce. If you think there's a problem with any of their products TAKE IT UP WITH THEM DIRECTLY. There are many tiers, including professionals who respectfully; are a lot more experienced than you will totally disagree with your comments.

Chevron may not be cheap ,but the capes I saw and the one I puchased at the gamefair were value, and the Lady Cristina I think ,knew what I was after and found it in the cheaper end of the range.
These capes have really improved from the blue dun whole skin I got from yhe UKs first dommercial genetic capes!

Default dont forget that wholesalers are price hiking

at the momment wholesalers are hiking up prices buy as many kamasans as yo can as they have hiked prices right through the range alike cape suppliers
shops with limited stocks then you will always get a deal or in the open market place this time next year these prices will seem cheap

An example of market forces at work arkle...a wont simply support a british producer BECAUSE it is a british producer, at the end of the day it comes down to value for money, the 35 pound price tag for the capes i saw was a joke, i have indian capes that are of better quality that cost me under a fiver. Based upon what i have seen i would rather pay the extra money and buy hofman, metz whiting and keough hackle (and have), the **** was down to the forum software not me...

The length of time i have been tying has nothing to do with it, it isnt rocket science, i have read the materials books and websites and the 1500+ hooks (i still have all the kamasan and gamakatsu boxes) i have got through since i started tying mean i have tied enough flies to know what i consider to be a good hackle. Now wether my dressing passes muster with the likes of you or not, frankly i couldnt give a monkeys, my flies catch trout , thats what i tie them for, not so i can have my ego stroked ... and if "professional" dressers would disagree with me or not really doesnt come into it... i disagree with my professional peers on products and methodologies all the time, doesnt mean i am right or they are ... incidentally i have sold a couple of dozen of my saltwater epoxy patterns does that make me professional...?

With respect or not i did find the latter part of your post somewhat patronising...
