Default Antron body yarn won't dub!? HELP!!

I got some Veniards Antron body yarn.
This stuff is the least dubbable material I've ever used.
Even cut up fine, it positively flies off waxed thread.
Anyone know of a cure?

Hi Steve,
1, Are you using ANY wax other than what's normally on the thread ?

2, Have you tried mixing another material with it ?

3. What make/type of thread are you using ?

I'm using waxed 8/0 Uni-thread.
I also tried it with extra wax - still ****.
Tried the Lureflash version for Shipman's Buzzer.
I've tried dubbing inch-long strands, finely cut pieces - this stuff is still **** to dub.
I think the best answer is to use seals fur for the body/thorax & the fluoro white antron just for the breathing filaments.

Unithread should be fine, have you tried moistening it ? My own favourite wax for this type of situation is Blue Ski wax, if you don't have access to any, have you got any of the old Veniard's liquid wax - that'll stick virtually anything to thread, you only ned the minutest amount !

If that's not possible try a dubbing loop with 8/0 thread

I've just tried with heavily-waxed Persall's gossamer thread. Same anti-dubbing attributes of Antron wool are still obvious.
Thanks arkle, but I refuse to spend any more money attempting to tie one series of flies with a material which is far inferior to seals fur.
I'll stick with the white fluoro stuff, but the ginger, olive & black is going where it belongs - in the bin.

Ah well, we tried. If you think that's "challenging" don't even think about tying on Partridge's Niflor hooks with g.s.p.

Always been tricky stuff Antron.... thats why I only use it for tails if n when.. anyway, have you tried 'carding' it before dubbing?... a couple of those dog 'fine-wire' brushes?.. or try Velcro and make sure your little 'pinkies' (no pun Fred B) are grease free when dubbing!!

As I said - stuff's in the bin now.
I'm not going to waste time & effort using inferior materials.

Best place for it, my first preference is for seals fur but some of the superfine dubbing is okay.
