Default Tidy Blobs

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to knock up some blobs. I'm using vampire fritz and I'm struggling to knock up nice looking blobs.

I know that you need to stoke the fritz back to get it neat, but I'm really struggling. I was wondering if perhaps there's a better type of fritz I could use, it's almost like the vampire fritz is too dense (or perhaps it's just me who's too dense!)

Any suggestions welcome

Cheers

Andy

Instead of touching turns... open the turns up..... still stroke em back though... ok?

Vampire fritz is quite stiff fibred when dry for tying with mate, my own stuff is a lot softer although vampire will tie a very nice blob but just needs to be wet with water while you are tying with it and stroke the fibres back nice and neatly each time.

I always used to wet my fritz.....but not enough and Fred B put me on the straight and narrow using more water with it and it certainly creates a nicer blob. Stuff with pearl,uv,gold/sivler/red flec in though doesn't need dampening as the fibres will stay fairly stiff so just stroke them back nicely each time.

Here is a quick blob I knocked up for display purposes using my fritz - this has been dampened after catching it in.

Dave Downie's fritz is much less bulky than vampire plush, and will allow you to tie a tidy blob. (Or fully dressed orange nymph, as I prefer to call it )

cheers captain, I've been trying to pack it tight. I'll have a go at your method.

The bulkier the better mate surely for in most cases anyway.

Cheers Flyfishing-UK, I'll try making it wet. That seems to make sense. Perhaps I'll post you an order if I don't get anywhere.

Cheers

Sorry I'll rephrase what I said - surely the bulkier the better for me (blobs not women)

I'm sure you will manage mate, the more fritz on the hook the merrier for me.

get it soaking wet ,, i always find it works better, when moist ,, then pull it back and hold it ,,, tends to stay in place

to get a smoooth finish on the head ,, push a sheath over the eye

less mess
