Default Wing colour

How important is the colour of wings in dry flies?????

The reason I ask is I have a little size 14-16 emerger sedge tied with cinnamon duck wing but it is a b****r to keep afloat.

It has caught countless trout on Corrib and Sheelin but in any kind of wave its gone. I think the attraction is the trout take it as it sits in the film.

Would changing the material of the wing to say cdc affect the attraction of it and also I don't have the match in colour would this also affect it??????

Thanks

Default Wings on a dry

I don't use wings for my own flies anymore just good hackles and I seem to do alright around Derbyshire. CDC would do fine on any dryfly but try your patterns without wings to see if the fish mind 1st then try CDC .
