Default Hotspot Spiders

A few hotspot spiders tied last weekend - with acknowledgement to Phil of spidersplus for much help and advice

All are tied on Partridge L3A size 12. The body is formed using 140 UTC thread which is then spun to form the rib

Spider 1: Grouse wing as hackle

Spider 2: Dark furnace hen hackle

Very nice spiders.
Does anyone know if the hotspot represents anything or is it purely a flash of colour to catch the fish's attention?
