Default Interesting hook............

Hi Guys

Came across this hook Kamasan B960 stillwater barbless its designed for small stillwaters stocked with powerful tench, carp.

Kam B175 top Kam B960 bottom interesting hook, ive tied a few small nymphs on then to play with ...................Shame Kamasan doesnt make the same effort to produce such nice barbless fly hooks

ahhh with the straight eye too which i think helps the fly swim more natural looking , yes i like it ,, and i really must be considering going over to barbless, as its just the right thing to do , but when u have the " i will lose more fish in yer head" it can be off putting to say the least ,but do it i must ,if only to see if i find any difference.

Dont listen to the "lose more fish" lie, you dont! its utter pish mate

If anything a barbless hook goes in cleaner and easier and as long as you keep a tight line on the fish there is no reason why you will lose fish, you will lose some but you lose some on barbed as well, come over to the barbless side urban

I like that hook though

Before my foray into flyfishing at the start of the year my biggest passion was chub and barbel fishing. I swear by kamasan coarse patterns, the kamasan animal being another very fine pattern with great strength. Have not tested them in anger yet but have tied a few patterns on these, and also drennan super specialist hooks.

An interesting pattern is the Drennan Starpoint - I am without camera at the moment but this has a very interesting shape and profile which I am sure could yield some great tying applications.

i still do have a great passion for the above and one hook that does interest me for fly fishing is this one as a shrimp/grub hook

I agree. Drennan Specialist are another great pattern. For medium to heavy weight barbless hooks, these, as well as the Kamasan Animal's and the Super Specialist are excellent fly tying hooks.

Urbanflyman, a straight eye hook will only "swim more naturally" if you tie it on with a knot that bites onto the eye such as a half blood type.

If you use a knot that actually goes around the head of the fly such as a turle type knot, then the fly will swim even better as there's no chance of it hinging on the knot itself.
