Question Foam Bodies for Daddies

Does anybody know where I can obtain the preformed foam bodies for daddies?

I did see on a previous thread that Glasgow AC had a David Rice product but did a search on their website to no avail

Any info would be much appreciated

Cheers

C

Thumbs up

they are very easy to make and much ,much, much cheaper my friend ,but I'm sure you will get someone who knows were to buy these on the forum.

i think the ones made from deer hair look better and have that natural looking color to them ,but again its personal choice .

Deer hair body- http://www.practicalfly.co.uk/dhbsbs.html

ill look out more clips of how to make these bodies I'm sure i have a few in my favs ,but i have so many its hard to find them.

Pre-made foam Daddy bodies can be bought from Stuart Ilsley at Rutland Angling Supplies, his shop is now at Eyebrook. Tel No. 01536 772 128.

Thanks

I did consider making my own and have tied with deer hair but I was keen to get the foam bodies like those used on Fulling Mill daddies. The foam bodied daddy pulled over trout appeared more successful than the deer hair versions at the weekend.

The foam does not appear to be plastazote...but I could be mistaken

Hi Chunky,

The foam from Stuart's is from the same supplier that we use here at Fulling Mill. It is a fairly hard close cell foam.

Foam bodies are stiff & can have a "brush off" effect to rising fish, they are also bulky to tie in unless you use very tight turns which can cut into & weaken them.

By far a better method is to use a length of Flexifloss (NOT spanflex) & tie it in with a twist & furl technique. This is very durable, it moves freely like the natural, it also looks a lot like the natural & is a lot easier to cast as it has no air resistance. To aid bouancy tie it on an u/e sedge hook with a small foam "backpack".

I can't seem to upload pics at the moment, but if you go to www.photobucket.com then search (people) arkle_photos on page 3 about 7 lines down you'll see a couple of examples there.

Thanks Arkle for your input, unfortunately I cannot access your albums on photobucket without your password.

What I liked about the foam body is when dibbling the fly on the hang it 'pops up' onto the surface

Still interested in seeing your examples though,

C

Thats great Fliman, I've been on their website and saw the product you've been talking about.

I'll be ordering a few samples later

Cheers

Why do you need his password? I just looked. Follow the instructions and you'll get there in the flashest of flashes.
