The Weaver vices (Scottie, type 1 etc.) have been debated on here a few times in the past. If you search for Weaver on the Forum you'll find several threads, all of which contain plenty of info.

At the risk of repeating what's been said elsewhere, I used a Weaver type 1 for years and for the money I found it to be excellent.

Default Fly Vice

Hi Neil26,

I have recently upgraded my vice to the Waldron courtesy of advice received on this Forum and I now have an Anvil Apex vice going spare. It's about 5 years old but has given me sterling service.
I'm afraid it only has a pedestal and the litle spring thread retainer is also missing.
I thinkt £30 plus postage would be reasonable if you are interested.

John.

Default trya snowbee fly-mate

snowbee do a crakin vice c clamp with ball jointed neck the ball joint is the usp for this vice as it allows numerous angles and unlimited movement especially when running epoxy over a finished buzzer it also has a rotational facility combined with cranked jaws which ensures the hook rotates on its own axis the jaws are warranted for 5yrs engineered from high quality steel and aircraft aluminium wiil accomadate hooks from #24~8/0 so all in all a top vice for under fifty quid drop me a pm for more advice crucial before yo decide
