Default Hopper Help!

Evening all!

Just after a few pointers on how to improve my hoppers, still newish to tying so any pointers welcome.
How much of a hackle do you need as i just put more hackle on if i want it to float or stay higher in the water, i think i might be over dressing it !
I have done a few variants and find tying the legs in at the top best but if there is a better way to tie them in iam open to any suggestions
Thanks in advance

baz, nice ties, perhaps try out your hoppers and see how they get on. also, what quality are the hackles? the better the quality the less turns of hackle you will need.

They catch fish ok thats for sure but have only really been using the booby version.
The capes are all good standards but just wondered how many turns of a hackle etc others used.

The main differance in style seems to be whether to tie the legs on top of the hook or underneath?
I beleive the hopper was to be fished almost sunk, on the point, with 2 shipmans or bobs bits on the dropper. These flies to be more visible in the surface than the hopper.
