Scott,
I make mine out of 2mm closed cell foam. Te way that I do it is to cut a wedge from the foam, split it, slide it onto a needle and then make segments using spiderweb. Once done, slide off the needle and you simply tie straight onto the hook.
How many do you want?
PM me if you get stuck.

the way i tie daddys is a :

size 10 hook,
knotted pheasant tail fibres as legs
thin strip of deer skin as a body
use a olive cock hackle.

as a body, i dont know if anyone else does this but i use a very thin strip of deer skin and it works well, had many brownies and rainbows on this fly tied in this style, do you know af anyone else who does this?

Very interesting, have never thought of using deer skin but will give it a go.

i leave no hair at all on the skin, i cut the hair off as close as possible to the skin, when tying it make sure you tie on enough hackles to make the fly float properley.

Try a "twist & furl" technique with olive brown Flexifloss. It stays soft & won't act like a "brush off" type device like many solid products do. It's very durable & has a natural segmentation.
