Default BFFI visit

Flooded rivers over here and darkening evenings have got me thinking about the horrible spectre of the end of season ( sorry lads )

This could be made more tolerable by a first visit to the BFFI.

I tend to tie a narrow range of flies so i might be wasting my time, but it sound like something a serious fly fisherman should be at...

Unfortunately Stoke is a bit of a mystery to me.

If you were coming from Ireland, would you aim for Brum or Manchester in terms of convenience, transport , access etc ?

John,

Manchester is the nearest in terms of road connections - the vast majority of tiers who are flying over for the event will be flying into and out of Manchester.

Both the airport and Tentham Gdns are very close to the M6.

Why not take a look at the BFFI website for directions as to how to get to the event?

Kind regards

Cheers Phil

The website doesnt give info to make that decision easy , in the sense that both cities seem pretty much equidistant, so i was looking for "local" knowledge i suppose.

Manchester had been my best guess too.

If I go will deffo be over to you after all your service of recent years.

John,

The BFFI is certainly the best fly fishing show in the UK - great atmosphere, superb range of tiers (plus me!) and always a great range of trade stands - many that don't bother with any of the other shows anymore.

You will NOT be disappointed!

Kind regards

Hi Spider - regarding coming to BFFI from Ireland - you can fly to Liverpool or Manchester there is not a vast distance between one or the other - so cost of a flight could be a major issue.

However it is easier to get a train from Manchester - from the airport to Manchester Piccadilly then onto Stoke. From there a 5 minute taxi ride to the show at Trentham.

If coming by car Liverpool or Holyhead are your best options.

Any queries just ask

Jimbo,

There is only one BFFI show each year - at Stoke on Trent - so almost on your door step from Wrexham.

Well worth the petrol!

Kind regards

Jimbo, its only an hour from wraxham.
Its a 2 day show and I always think I should go for both days just to see it all properly. In previous years I have seen some real fly tying legends like Oliver Edwards. Some of the guys in tying tent are amazing, flies which are more like art than something you would fish with.

Get yourself there, its well worth it.

Andy

It's THE event of the year, the only time you'll get to see tyer's from all over the world, U.K, U.S, Australia, E.U. Russia & the Balkans, Scandanavia, Africa, you name it....
70 odd tyers with up to 40 tying at any 1 time, eyegasmic.
