I would say big eyes if pulling them and small eyes if you are fig 8 with nymphs or buzzers

Hope this helps.

Big as in large................ i would only use for pulling in fish on the floater trailing wet's, nymphs etc.............. or for out right stockies....... and coloured water.

Med. eye's will cater for most work, pulling, washing line etc...

Small / micro ........ i would use mainly for washing line { subsurface }, resident fish.....

Maybe Sir Robert of the Edmunds will contribute............. he's a monster and at a guess would be happy with booby eyes bigger than his belly oop's did i really say that ?????

My little secret lol, I always use small eyes to ensure it fits in the mouth.

If I want it to ride high I'll just put a strip down the shank and tie it down not too tightly

tie over that as normal and no one would ever know....even me lol so I use pupils on the eye so I know which is which

big eyes to make the fly more boyant. fast sinking line, 3 foot leader and the booby, cast it out to where the fish are, wait 5 mins and you are guaranteed to get a rainbow

Personally [I] have loads of boobies in different sizes. (and a belly in one size fred...large)

As has already been said ..the large booby eyes are great for big hummungus boobies or cat boobies...deadly on a DI-7 early or late season..

For international rules i use medium size, for pulling....

For the washiing line it's either medium or small....depending how high you want the cast to hold in the water...

But I always carry a decent pair of scissors...so if i need to trim the eyes down a little i can...not ideal in a match to be cutting flies down .....but sometimes 3 or 4 mins customising a fly can make a difference...

For info (The sizes...small, medium and large...are the sizes in the Veniards range)
