Default Zuddlers !

Hi Guys

Anyone here use or tie them ??

The Lad "found" what i now know to be a pink Zuddler at a fishery, a week or so later at another he asked if it would be good to try ?? Seeing as it was hard going i said yes , why not ?? He promptly cast out and hooked a stonking rainbow which sadly snapped him off after a few blistering runs !

Im assuming it come from the other side of the pond ? kind of a contradiction zonker tail, muddler body, stonking great heavy cone head so it sinks like a stone !

Lads been hinting that i could tie him one or two in pink , might tie a few for myself in other colours and sizes any suggestions ??

It's not a bad effort, I've looked at the tutorial and the apart from the fact they are using cone heads the only real difference is the muddler head bit is missing. By that I mean the spun and trimmed dear hair.

I love the colour of your deer hair and rabbit...

Cheers

Andy

Tried my version at Spring Hill this morning and couldn't get an offer on it but thats not to say it doesn't work because I didn't get an offer on any of the other flies I tried.

Will photogragh it tomorrow and post picture, I tied mine with an oversize gold bead because I didn't have any coneheads

Its a real funny fly this one, the you tube movie said that they added dear hair to add boyancy to the fly. Bit off considering the cone head on the front. Perhaps it would be better to have a smaller bead, just enough to pull it through the surface.
It might be better in the top of the water at this time of year?

Thumbs up Field trial

Hi Guys

I was out today had a fish on a black buzzer, another on a damsel lure..........then i rembered i had the Zuddler with me although my mate called it an "abomination"

Fished it on floating line 12ft leader long cast let it sink ............ fig 8 retrieve......................."nip" well chuffted.........another "nip" a few seconds later ......................just as i thought it had lost interest "bang" fish -on !! i very hard fighting rainbow about 4 lb mark. My mate could'nt believe it.

I hooked and lost another two fish on it and had another couple of bite not bad for an abomination !

Andrew - seeing it in action i get the muddler bit completely, the action is superb ! the zonker style tail had a lovely action/movement and the muddler bit gives it a "bulky" appearence far more than it really has ?? The heavy head give it a bobbing type action and the "bulk" of the deer hair seems to slow the sink rate even though it rather heavy fly.

I shall certinally be tying a few more

Hi Englander,
Sounds like you had a bit of a result. Now you explain it in action I can see how it would be attractive to a fish. Was it the colour you posted on here that did the damage?

Cheers

Andy
