River Otter? think the otter has caught all the fish

when i go to an unknown river i always go for the hackled wets first, these will be your black spider, black pennell and so on.

good luck

I have spent many hours on this river over the years and it is not an easy one but very rewarding.I found my favourite fly was a zulu, this took many a fish off it.A march brown dry also did very well for the browns,The zulu took many a sea trout for me here. Also the black spider did well. The mullet proved very hard down towards budliegh but could give you some exciting fishing. There is some fine water just below ottery st mary and also if you are fortunate to know the landowner above there some good water and fishing. My old x brother in law when on holiday had a 3and a half brownie from under some trees on that beat below ottery and it was a belter.Plenty of nice brownies around the 1lb mark and bigger.
