Default Real Shimmy

Willy a friend from Alloa gave a fly to copy, which he thinks is very successfull for catching trout, the fly was "Shimmy" and recipe he gave me is
Hook: #10
Thread: Black
Tail: Black Marabou
Body: Black Chenille
Ribbing: Flat or round silver tinsel
Head: Leadshot painted black with white spots both side imitating as eyes.
Hackle: Black cock hackle palmered down body.
Most of my client will not accept any changes to this fly, like using silver wire instead of tinsel or black & silver mini fritz and using bead instead of lead. I am sure this is actual recipe for Shimmy. Try it let me know the result.Fish tastes better with Irn Bru

The Shimmy that I Know of was as above but the split shot head was painted red.....It was commonly used on Carron Valley in the late 80s early 90s.

The Shimmy I know has small bead chain eyes and no palmered hackle.

Default The Shimmy

Hi Wee Jimmy, You are right, lead shot should be siplit, but apology to 3lbgrayling, his version can not be Shimmy, it is a variation of Woolly ******, Beaded Damsel or Dog Nobbler.

Shimmy I was shown at Carron a few years ago(I think) Had a black marabou tail with silver over, black body palmered and ribbed with flat tinsel and bead chain eyes (Again I think) tied on a size 10 or 8 B175

Is this the same or similar to the Shimma Lure - Taff Price (1980's I guess)? The only real difference being the lead shot.

Default Shimma Lure

Hi Loopy!
I have read about Shimma Lure, which was invented in America, but I can't find the recipe. Thanks
